• Developing Practice Learning in Police and Prison services in the West Midlands.
  This summary details the work of a Skills for Care funded project to develop Practice Learning
  Opportunities in the West Midlands Police service and HMP prisons Birmingham and Featherstone.

  A guide to developing and supporting practice learning opportunities in social work education by
  and for the independent, private and voluntary sector.
  The independent social care sector provides a substantial number of practice learning opportunities for students on social work degrees.
  This guide looks at several projects which have been set up within the independent sector to
  engage and support practice learning opportunities. The main focus is on the Solihull project,
  but the experience of several similar projects around the country has been included.

  This report explains the process of developing the Practice Learning Opportunities, describes the model of supervising students which was developed, audits the experience of Practice Learning in these non traditional Social Work settings and makes recommendations to improve the quantity and quality of Practice

  This guide aims to assist agencies who are providing practice learning opportunities for students undertaking a degree in social work - BA(Hons)SW, BSc(Hons)SW or MASW – who do not have a member of their own staff who meets the General Social Care Council (GSCC) or University requirements to undertake the assessment of the student in practice.

  • The South West LRN Toolkit (Jan 2007) -

    This toolkit has been produced to disseminate the learning from LRN Project Activity from a number of Skills for Care funded ventures that took place in the South West region in the period July 2005 to September 2006.

    The projects covered a wide range of subjects, including: developing and supporting practice learning opportunities, reviewing and developing the Managing Practice Learning Course Material, and Developing a South West PQ Information Hub.
