Learning Resource Network

The Learning Resource Network (LRN) initiative is a three- year project to create a national framework of learning resource network for the benefit of all social care employers engaging in work based learning, assessment and mentoring. The main focus for the first two years will be on the needs of students undertaking the degree in social work. The project will be co-ordinated by Skills for Care at a national level. Plans will be developed on a regional basis by each of the nine Skills for Care regional committees, based on consultation with local stakeholders. The Practice Learning Taskforce provided advice and consultation. Funding from the Department of Health has been confirmed for 2003-4 at 1m, with provisional figures of 5m for 2004-5 and 14m for 2005-6. There is an expectation that matching funding will be identified from other sources.
